We explore the history and various understandings of Buddhism through the Rubin Museum’s collections, which mainly concern the art and culture of the Himalayas. From there, we look at modern understandings of Buddhism through the exercised involving the mandala, the wheel of existence, mindfulness, and more. We discuss Buddhism but also the theories of Carl Jung and other thinkers.
